Marietta Police Department Honors Tip Top

On behalf of Chief Flynn, Officer Chuck McPhilamy recognized Tip Top Poultry as a community partner in 2019 for its support of the Marietta Police Department and the Marietta Community. The announcement was made during the monthly Marietta Business Association meeting at Roswell Street Baptist Church.

What began as a friendly wager on the annual Georgia Tech – Georgia football game turned into a collaboration between Tip Top Poultry and the Marietta Police Department to serve the local Marietta community. Tip Top owner Brad Respess (and Tech graduate) suggested that either he or Marietta Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin (UGA graduate) grill chicken and serve the police force if their respective team lost. Over the meal provided for by Tip Top, officers and company leadership developed relationships which carried on into other events which served the community.

One example was a local barbecue competition into which the Marietta Police Department entered a team. Tip Top leaders Graham Kirkman and Brian Tucker provided the meat and aided in grilling it. Not only did the team win, but they were able to use the prize to financially help Marietta-based addiction recovery organization, The Zone. What about the grilled meat? They chose to hand-deliver it together to The Zone. Tip Top would like to thank Chuck McPhilamy, the Marietta Police department, and the Marietta Business Association for the honor. Tip Top continuously invests in the communities where it serves and looks to work collaboratively with other local organizations in their efforts.
